What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of altered consciousness that occurs normally in every person just before he enters into the sleep state. In therapeutic hypnosis we prolong this brief interlude so that we can work within its bounds. In hypnotherapy we attempt to replace unwanted attitudes or behavior with beneficial ones.

What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a gentle, relaxing and accelerated approach to facilitating change. It can be said that the hypnotic state is an attentive subconscious in a very relaxed body. In this state one is extremely responsive to suggestion, allowing the client to learn to take control of the changes he or she wishes to achieve.

What is the role of the hypnotherapist?
The hypnotherapist progressively induces a state of deep physical relaxation and focuses the conscious mind on one thing, usually the Hypnotherapist's voice, thus stilling the constant chatter of thoughts. The Hypnotherapist can be thought of as a coach or teacher encouraging the client toward their desired goal.

It is important here to clarify the functions of the conscious and the subconscious mind. The conscious mind is aware of the environment. It has the ability to look, listen, learn, reason, judge, analyze, criticize, accept or reject suggestions given to it. The subconscious minds job is to store all memory and run all reflexes and bodily functions.

Studies have shown that both internal and external functions respond to hypnotic training: blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, pain receptors, skin disorders, blood flow, the immune system and numerous other autonomic systems.

Motivation is a key factor in successful hypnosis. Having hypnosis is not an instant panacea, but more a program of determined exercise. The Hypnotherapist is a guide who uses words, guided imagery and beneficial mental suggestions. The client’s job is to do the changing.

Hypnotherapy is an excellent complement to all other therapies.
